A Japan-ready B2B website should let a Japanese buyer answer five questions without reconstructing the story across disconnected pages: What is this for? How do we advance? Which assurance applies? Who supports delivery? What relevant proof exists?
Translation makes a page readable. Evidence makes a buying decision defensible.
This checklist turns the five dimensions used in the exploratory Japan Buyer Evidence Index into practical inspection points. It is deliberately evidence-based: count what a buyer can find and verify, not what the company intends to provide later in a sales conversation.
THE FIVE PUBLIC-EVIDENCE PATHS
Inspect the journey from explanation to proof
What does the product do for a buyer in Japan?
Pass when: a Japanese-language visitor can identify the product, intended buyer, use case and Japan availability from visible text.
Repair first: replace generic corporate language with one clear product-and-use-case page. State material scope differences instead of implying that every global feature or service is available locally.
Can the buyer take a clear next step?
Pass when: the Japanese journey exposes a working path to pricing, trial, purchase, consultation or another defined next step.
Repair first: name what happens after contact, who the route serves and any essential commercial conditions that can be stated publicly. Test the form and confirmation state as a buyer would.
Can the buyer inspect relevant security or compliance evidence?
Pass when: the Japan journey connects the offer to substantive security, privacy, certification or compliance information and makes its scope understandable.
Repair first: add a Japanese summary that identifies the applicable product, entity and evidence, then link to the detailed global source. A logo strip without scope or supporting material is not enough.
Who owns sales, implementation and support?
Pass when: a buyer can identify the entity, team or named partner responsible for the Japanese relationship and understand the delivery or support model.
Repair first: state whether responsibility sits with a local entity, regional team, distributor or implementation partner. Do not let a Tokyo address or partner logo carry more meaning than the page supports.
What Japan-relevant customer or partner proof exists?
Pass when: the site provides attributable Japanese customer, implementation or partner evidence with enough context to understand what the relationship demonstrates.
Repair first: publish one bounded example with the organisation, use case and result that can be disclosed. If local proof does not yet exist, say what is available without converting a global logo into a Japan claim.

THE DISCOVERY LAYER
Make the evidence retrievable as well as readable
Useful evidence can still fail to travel if it is hidden in an image, isolated from the Japanese journey or published without a stable page. Keep the important claim in crawlable text, give it a durable URL, link it from relevant pages and use a canonical URL that reflects the intended source.
Structured data should describe what the visitor can see. It is not a substitute for visible proof. The same applies to AI-search work: a machine-readable file cannot repair an unclear product claim or a missing purchase path.

Run the check from a buyer’s starting point
- Open the Japanese product or market page without using internal knowledge.
- Write down the product, intended buyer, use case and Japan availability using only visible text.
- Follow the primary call to action and confirm that the next step works and is explained.
- Find the security, privacy or compliance evidence that applies to the offer.
- Identify who sells, implements, supports and escalates the Japanese relationship.
- Find one attributable customer or partner example relevant to Japan.
- Record the exact URL supporting each answer. Mark an item missing when the path depends on assumption.
Do not collapse the result into a universal score. The first missing evidence path is usually more actionable than a polished aggregate number.
INTERPRETATION LIMIT
What a checklist result does not prove
This is a public-evidence diagnostic, not legal advice or a certification of market readiness. A pass does not establish product demand, procurement approval, regulatory compliance, search ranking, AI citation or sales performance. The five dimensions come from an exploratory review of 62 companies selected from one official event source; that frame is not representative of all foreign technology vendors in Japan.
SHORT ANSWERS
Frequently asked questions
Is a Japanese-language product page enough?
No. Buyers also need a usable next step, relevant assurance, accountable delivery information and proof they can interpret.
Does every supporting document need to be in Japanese?
Not necessarily. The Japanese journey should explain what the evidence is, what it applies to and where to inspect it. Detailed global documents can support the decision when that connection is explicit.
Should a company wait for a Japanese customer case study?
No. It should publish only the strongest truthful evidence currently available—such as a named partner, implementation model or bounded global example—while avoiding unsupported Japan-specific implications.
